I was wishing for this when uploading my 'me drinking a 40' pic. Had I not had to resize manually, people could have seen me drinking a 40 much faster. This is important stuff.

I was thinking it'd be handy for the users who post from mobile devices. It can be a PITA to resize pictures on a phone sometimes.

I've often wondered why the forum never had an attatchment auto-adjuster. Sounds like something it should have.

I quite like anouther forum I go to where it lets you upload a really big high res photo but embeds a thumbnail of about the size of our max attachment limit. So you can read the thread without having gigantic images everywhere, but sitll have good viewable images and thne when you click on it it loads the full image in a new window/tab. This also prevents random people taking up a lot of bandwidth because of loading the big images every time in the thread...but it DOES take up more forum harddisk space cause you are uploading potentially really big images.

I suspect that adding that functionality to our already heavily hacked version of vB2 without breaking something else is not exactly a trivial task. But rit is the one who's most familiar with the bowels of the forum software

But hey, if someone comes over a working hack for vB2, feel free to tell us about it

Yup!
As I was reading the comments, one user said the load was tons higher once he applied the hack. So, it may not be the best idea/solution..

Though the one that relies on third party websites to resize an image... still, it would add additional strain...

Wjy don't folks just upload to an image hosting site and use their resize tools, and link here with img tags? Attached images are a pain anyway.
